The Summit - of Mount Ritter offers fantastic views of the Yosemite region to the north, the Minarets to the
south, and a 360 degree view of the Ansel Adams Wilderness. Above in the larger center picture, you are looking
down on the Minaret Range, while in the upper right hand corner you see Eddie doing some early afternoon
reading of the summit register book. Standing at 13,143 feet Mount Ritter is the tallest peak in the Ritter Range
that lies northwest of Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. We had a beautiful day on the summit and were able to
spend a good bit of time enjoying the crisp thin air and beautiful views of the surrounding landscapes. Climbing
Mount Ritter proved to be a great experience. We descended the Southeast Glacier Route. Great glissading
opportunities on the way down.

Eddie left with Mike and Sean on the right enjoying
the views from the summit of Mount Ritter. Fantastic
views of the Minarets below and the surrounding
countryside. Worth all the work to get on top of this
remarkable peak.
This view from the summit is looking into Yosemite
National Park. In the distant background you can see
Mount Lyell, the highest point in Yosemite (13,114
feet). Ritter is just a bit higher at 13,157 feet.
Sean examining the register book. Peoples entries
always make for interesting reading. They are as
varied in content as there are people. Signing your
name in the book, along with a few comments, is one
of the perks of making the summit.
Mike relaxing on the summit with the great expanse
of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the background.
Still lots of snow in the range during the month of
July. This makes for multitudes of mosquito's
down in the lower elevations, but they are no
problem up here.
